Dirk Frimout caricature

Dirk Frimout was the first Belgian in space. He joined the ATLAS 1 mission in March/April 1992. As an atmospheric physics specialist, he observed the Earth's atmosphere together with six American astronauts.
The small country of Belgium was particularly proud of its compatriot. He instantly became a national hero.

The first Belgian in space!... Of course that had to be made into a caricature for the children's newspaper 'Kits'.

Together with 6 American astronauts, he flew around our planet 143 times.

He instantly became a famous Belgian!
He received the degree of Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold and also the title of Viscount.

At the same time, I also had to draw a cartoon about him for the children's magazine 'Klap'.
The glorious launch of our compatriot!... (the funny version) :-)

So this was a busy time for Dirk Frimout, but also for me :-)
